Griffith University is celebrating the success of five students who will receive a prestigious Swimming Australia Scholarship to support their academic goals and swimming dreams.
Each student will receive $5,000 to assist in the transition from junior to senior elite levels, which is a crucial period when the athletes will strive for a place in the senior Dolphins team.
The scholarship announcement was backed by a renewed four-year partnership with Swimming Australia in a shared investment focused on developing the performance of elite athletes and cultivating the talent of emerging athletes in the lead up to the 2028 Los Angeles (LA) Olympic Games.
The 2025 Swimming Australia Scholarship recipients include:
Phoebe Bentley (Bachelor of Education)
Haig Buckingham (Bachelor of Psychological Science)
Sienna Harben (Bachelor of Communication)
Bailey Lello (Bachelor of Environmental Science)
Thomas Nankervis (Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology)

"This scholarship is huge for me as it allows me to continue doing what I love while helping to prepare me for my future outside of swimming," said Griffith University student Bailey Lello.

Griffith Sports College Director Naomi McCarthy OAM said Griffith's partnership with Swimming Australia continued to assist the development of future swimming stars towards 2028 and beyond.
"These scholarships are important in allowing the future stars of the Dolphins team to be supported whilst they balance swimming and study at Griffith," Ms McCarthy said.
Phoebe, Haig, Sienna, Bailey and Thomas are members of the Griffith Swim Squad and are under the expert guidance of High-Performance Squad Head Coach Mel Marshall, High-Performance Squad Assistant Coach Janelle Pallister, and National Squad Head Coach Tom Fraser-Holmes.
