Since 2015, the university has continued to rise in the QS ranking system, driven by strong research performance.
Swinburne has ranked in the top three per cent of universities globally, continuing to improve its position in the QS World University Rankings.
Each year the QS World University rankings evaluate more than 1,000 universities around the world according to six key performance indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, research citations per faculty, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.
This year, Swinburne ranks 21st in Australia and 383rd in the world, up four positions from last year's rankings.
Since 2015, the university has continued to rise in the QS ranking system, driven by strong research performance and citations.
Swinburne researchers have been at the forefront of discoveries in the fields of technology, astronomy and health. These achievements have attracted the attention of the international research community and featured in high quality publications.
Some of these achievements include:
- Swinburne and Amazon Web Services linking up to launch an Australian-first Cloud innovation Centre
- The launch of a new global Blockchain Centre of Excellence in partnership with Capgemini
- Playing a key role in the new Cooperative Research Centre for Smart Satellite Technologies and Analytics – The SmartSat CRC
- Researchers at Swinburne developing a collaborative robot system to automatically treat back, neck and head pain caused by soft tissue injury.
Last year, Swinburne ranked number 45 in the QS rankings for the world's top universities under the age of 50, an index of the world's top universities under 50 years old.
The QS rankings are viewed as one of the world's leading higher education league tables, along with the Academic Ranking of World Universities and Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
