Sydney's youngest shutterbugs are invited to submit their creative snaps on life as part of the Little Sydney Lives photography competition.
Children aged three to 12 years are encouraged to snap and submit their unique take on living in Sydney over the past year for the chance to win one of two $500 photography prizes and have their work showcased in an outdoor exhibition.
The City of Sydney's annual competition gives hundreds of budding photographers the chance to showcase Sydney from their perspective, with images by 20 selected finalists enlarged and exhibited in Hyde Park North from 15 September to 9 October.
"This year we celebrate 12 years of Little Sydney Lives – a competition that has become increasingly popular with our city's youngest snappers," Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
"It's always inspiring to see the fresh creativity and originality in submitted images, which can range from delightfully simple compositions and subjects to the most complex and confronting – from the family dog enjoying an afternoon walk through to shots chronicling the impacts of lockdown. I look forward to seeing what surprises are in store this year."
The City of Sydney is calling for submissions in two age categories – three to seven and eight to 12 – with the winners of each category taking home a photography prize worth $500.
Winners will be announced at the opening of the exhibition, which will return to Sandringham Gardens in Hyde Parks after being moved online for the past two years due to Covid.
Last year, Milena Bate from Summer Hill was the winner of the 3 to 7 years age category for her shot My New Brother In Sydney, while Layla Rose Moshi from Bossley Park was selected as the winner in the 8 to 12 years age category for Wishing Well.
A panel of judges will select the finalist images for the exhibition which will be curated by photographer Sandy Edwards.
Little Sydney Lives is part of the City of Sydney's year-round Art & About program of events and temporary art projects in unusual spaces throughout the city.
Entries for the Australian Life competition close at midnight on Tuesday 24 May.
