More than 30 iconic Western Australian buildings and landmarks will turn yellow this week to shine a light on road safety.
As part of National Road Safety Week, popular landmarks from Broome in the north to Albany in the south will light up yellow, as a visual reminder for people to drive safely.
Western Australians are being urged to take the National Road Safety Week pledge to 'Drive so Others Survive', highlighting the critical responsibility all road users have towards one another.
Launching National Road Safety Week today, Police and Road Safety Minister Paul Papalia took the pledge at Scarborough Amphitheatre which, along with the Scarborough pool, will be bathed in yellow light.
Every year, around 1,200 people lose their lives on Australian roads and 44,000 people are seriously injured.
So far this year, there have been 61 fatalities on WA roads - 43 of those in country areas.
More than $700 million is being spent on regional road upgrades across Western Australia - more than any other time in the history of the State.

As stated by Police and Road Safety Minister Paul Papalia:
"National Road Safety Week is an opportunity to have a conversation about road safety with your family and friends, and take the pledge to drive safely.
"Already this year, too many families have lost loved ones through road crashes.
"Please drive within the speed limit, buckle up, leave the phone alone, take regular breaks and never get behind the wheel when you're affected by alcohol or drugs.
"Road safety is everyone's responsibility and if we all make a commitment to drive so others survive, we can work together to reduce death and serious injury on our roads."
