The Tara and District Art Exhibition will bring to life all the colour, texture and stories of the region this October.
Artists and quilters from across the Tara and district are invited to submit work to the week-long exhibition, which will officially open from 6pm, Friday 17 October.
Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Peter Saxelby said the exhibition truly highlights the amazing artists and quilters of the region.
"Having a platform such as this exhibition, unites our community and allows our artists to showcase their work and creativity. The exhibition along with the workshops held throughout September, are a great example of our inclusive art community flourishing on the Western Downs," Cr Saxelby said.
"We have some quality artists in the region, and I'm excited to see what this year's exhibition will showcase.
"We encourage artisans and crafters to use this opportunity to exhibit their works in a professional exhibition. Entry is free and we have prize money for winners in each category. We also hope as many people as possible can make it out to view the exhibition when it opens in October, thereby supporting our community.
"It goes without saying this exhibition would not be possible without the involvement of the Tara Steering Group Committee and Tara and District Family Support Committee.
"We wish to thank these committee members for their ongoing support in allowing the community to connect through art and craft, and in showcasing the regions art offerings for the whole community to enjoy."
There is also opportunity for residents to get involved in creating their own masterpieces through various workshops, held in September. Numbers of attendees for the workshops are strictly limited.
Entries for the Tara and District Art Exhibition close Friday 15 August at 4pm. The exhibition opens on 6pm, Friday 17 October and runs until 2pm, Sunday 26 October at the Tara Soldiers Memorial Hall, with entry by gold coin donation.
