Queensland Police have established a taskforce after local detectives identified a connection between four armed robberies involving a hotel and taverns in Logan and on the Gold Coast between 2018 and 2019.
Detectives believe that armed robberies at a hotel at Maudsland Road at Oxenford on June 18, 2018 and three other armed robberies this year (2019) at a tavern at Distillery Road at Eagleby/Beenleigh
on April 4, a tavern at Pascoe Road at Ormeau on April 27 and a tavern at Pub Lane at Greenbank on May 17 are all linked.
Detective Inspector Chris Knight from the Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch said the people responsible for these violent offences have display no regard for patrons and staff of the targeted businesses and used firearms and machetes to steal money.
"Detectives believe they pose a significant risk to the public and are devoted to arresting and prosecuting those responsible.
"One person has been previously charged for the armed robbery at the hotel at Oxenford and the Taskforce made a further arrest for that robbery on Monday July 1, with a 29-year-old woman from Woodridge being charged with armed robbery. She is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on July 26.
"The Taskforce, which includes detectives and intel analysts has identified a number of investigative options and remain hopeful that further arrests will follow.
"Due to the number of people involved in these robberies, I have no doubt that there are people in the community with knowledge that would assist this investigation and anyone with information are encourage to contact the investigating officers," said Detective Inspector Knight.
