Victoria Police has charged fifteen youths in relation to an alleged affray in Hoppers Crossing on 23 May under Operation Stingray.
Police believe that approximately 40 youths met at a carpark on Derrimut Road at around 5.30pm where an alleged affray took place. As a result of this, a 17-year-old male attended a hospital in Werribee with suspected stab wounds.
Wayward Taskforce detectives have worked hard to identify and locate persons of interest in relation to the incident.
Detectives executed warrants in Hoppers Crossing, Werribee, Point Cook, Deer Park, Burnside Heights, Tarneit, St Albans and Melton this morning.
Fifteen people have been arrested and have all been charged with affray, violent disorder and breaching the Chief Health Officer directions.
A 21-year-old female from Melton West was charged, along with fourteen males including:
- A 13-year-old from St Albans
- A 14-year-old from St Albans
- A 14-year-old from Hoppers Crossing
- A 15-year-old from Point Cook
- A 15-year-old from Werribee
- A 15-year-old from Hoppers Crossing
- A 15-year-old from Hoppers Crossing
- A 16-year-old from Werribee
- A 16-year-old from Burnside Heights
- A 17-year-old from Tarneit
- A 17-year-old from Deer Park
- An 18-year-old from Hoppers Crossing
- A 21-year-old from Werribee
- A 22-year-old from Hoppers Crossing
The 15-year-old male from Point Cook and the 16-year-old males from Werribee and Burnside Heights have been remanded to appear at a children's court at a later date. Three of those charged have been released pending summons. The remaining six people have been bailed to appear at a court at a later date.
