Police have charged a 64-year-old man with unlawful trafficking in firearms and controlled substances following a controlled operation in Dromedary yesterday.
Detective Acting Sergeant Sam Storer said officers from Southern Drugs and Firearms squad and other specialised police resources, searched a large residential property and bushland and located and seized:
- approximately 1.7 kilograms of cannabis
- 3.7 grams of Methylamphetamine
- seven firearms, including three which have been confirmed as stolen
- a significant amount of ammunition
- a significant quantity of pharmaceutical glassware
- a large quantity of jewellery, believed to be stolen
- a quantity of cash.
The man will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court today.
"The stolen firearms, large quantity of illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia posed a significant risk to the wider Tasmanian community," said Detective Acting Sergeant Storer.
"We will continue to target and hold accountable those involved in the illicit drug and firearm trade."

"For anyone that has an illegal or unregistered firearm, there is a permanent amnesty in Tasmania and unregistered or unwanted firearms can be handed in to police or licenced firearms dealers without any action being taken in relation to possession offences."
