Tasmanian Planning Policies In Effect From Today

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Planning Policies come into effect from today.

The TPPs provide a strategic direction on land use planning matters in Tasmania.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said Tasmania's planning system must be delivering smarter sustainable land use.

"We want to see land being used as effectively and efficiently as possible in Tasmania," Minister Vincent said.

"The TPPs will work to safeguard the environment, respect heritage and ensure we're delivering infrastructure where we need it.

"This allows us to deliver more homes, more opportunity and importantly our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future."

The TPPs will be implemented through the regional land use strategies, State Planning Provisions and amendments to Local Provisions Schedules.
