Tasmania's Favourite Reads Of 2025

Tasmanian Government

Tasmania's most loved books of 2025 have been identified.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said Libraries Tasmania's Top 10 lists have been released and prove, once again, Tasmanians are passionate readers.

"Last year Tasmanians borrowed more than 3.2 million physical and digital items," Minister Palmer said.

"Tasmanian writers are going from strength to strength, with local authors of digital and physical books making the lists. This includes the growing popularity of children's titles by Tasmanian Aboriginal authors.

"In the Tasmanian adult fiction category, Claire van Ryn and Mary-Lou Stephens appear twice, with three new authors joining the list for the first time this year.

"Libraries Tasmania works with the Lifting Literacy initiative to provide the community with rich literacy environments and help foster lifelong learning across Tasmania.

"With 46 public libraries statewide, free membership gives you access to physical and digital collection items, also free activities and adult literacy support. Everyone should discover their library."

Digital resources continue to soar in popularity, with eBook and eAudiobook loans increasing by 6 per cent to nearly 1.2 million in 2025.

Tasmania's Favourite Reads showcases Libraries Tasmania's most-borrowed items across 10 categories, including adult fiction and non-fiction, junior and youth fiction, crime, romance, eBooks and eAudiobooks, Tasmanian authors, and children's books by Tasmanian authors.
