Tassie's Aussie Lobster Men take to seas again

The second season of Tasmanian documentary series Aussie Lobster Men premieres tonight on the Discovery Channel.

This is a major Tasmanian production strongly supported by the Hodgman majority Liberal Government that sustains Tasmanian jobs, contributes to a healthy local economy and promotes Tasmania to global audiences.

Season two continues to follow the real life dramas of five Tasmanian lobster boat captains over 10 weeks of the winter rock lobster season, as they risk it all in search of the world's most prized seafood delicacy.

Our Government, through Screen Tasmania, invested $145,000 into the production of the documentary series' second season, produced by Fredbird Entertainment and Tasmania's Winning Post Productions.

This series is a great example of how Government investment in the creative industries can also benefit other sectors, such as seafood exports and our booming tourism industry.

Importantly, this Government investment has leveraged more than $450,000 in spending on Tasmanian goods and services, which includes placing one-person crews on all five lobster boats to capture the drama.

The series will be distributed around the world, highlighting the bravery and talent of Tasmanian fishers as they travel our stunning and wild South and West Coasts in search of highly-prized Tasmanian rock lobsters.

Aussie Lobster Men season two airs on the Discovery Channel at 8:30pm Wednesdays and will also screen on 7Mate at a later date.
