Taxi driver charged with indecent assault in Lismore

A taxi driver has been charged after allegedly entering the home of a passenger and indecently assaulting her in Lismore, NSW Police say.

During the evening of Saturday 28 May 2016, a taxi driver picked up two female passengers from a nightclub in the Lismore area, before dropping one of the passengers – an 18-year-old woman – at a home on Keen Street.

The taxi driver then returned the second passenger to Lismore CBD.

After dropping the second passenger off, the taxi driver allegedly returned to Keen Street, before entering the home and indecently assaulting the 18-year-old woman.

Officers from Lismore Local Area Command were notified of the incident and an investigation commenced.

About 10am on Wednesday 1 June 2016, officers arrested a 46-year-old man in Lismore. He was taken to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with enter dwelling and commit serious indictable offence, and indecent assault.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Lismore Local Court on 18 July 2016.
