Teacher charged over alleged sexual assaults in Cootamundra

A high school teacher has been charged over the alleged sexual assaults of a student in the Riverina region.

In September 2018, police from Riverina Police District commenced an investigation into child sex offences allegedly committed against a female student during tutoring sessions in Cootamundra.

Police will allege the girl was 17-years-old at the time of the alleged offences.

Following inquiries, detectives attended a home in Cootamundra and arrested a 41-year-old man just before 8.30am yesterday (Wednesday 2 January 2018).

He was taken to Cootamundra Police Station where he was charged with three counts of sexual intercourse with a child between 17 and 18 under special care.

The Cootamundra man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Cootamundra Local Court on Monday 4 February 2019.
