Teacher charged over indecent assault at Wollongong

A male teacher has been charged over an alleged historical indecent assault at a school in Wollongong.

Earlier this year, detectives from Wollongong Police District commenced an investigation, following reports a 15-year-old female had been inappropriately touched by a teacher in 2018.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 47-year-old man at a school in Wollongong about 3.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 17 March 2021).

The man was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with aggravated indecent assault – victim under authority of offender, and indecent assault person under 16 years of age.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 20 April 2021.

The man has been suspended from teaching.
