Teacher Charged With Child Grooming by Sex Crimes Squad

Sex Crime Squad detectives have charged a school teacher with the alleged online grooming of a 14-year-old girl under Strike Force Trawler.

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

On Wednesday 18 March 2026, strike force detectives received a report that a 14-year-old girl had been communicating with a man on social media who attempted to encourage the girl to send sexually explicit material in exchange for money.

About 5.45am today (Thursday 26 March 2026), detectives executed a search warrant in Beecroft, where they arrested a 29-year-old man.

The man was taken to Gladesville Police Station, where he was charged with use carriage service-groom under 16 yrs for sex and use carriage etc to access child abuse material.

He was refused bail to appear in Burwood Local Court today.

Inquiries under Strike Force Trawler continue.
