Teen charged over indecent assault in Armidale

A teen has been charged after the alleged indecent assault of a woman at Armidale at the weekend, NSW Police say.

About 5.30pm on Saturday (2 September 2018), a 19-year-old woman was walking east on the Armidale creek land bike track, between Butler and O’Dell Streets, when she was tackled from behind by a male and fell to the ground.

The woman and the male fell to the ground. The male then allegedly indecently assaulted the woman, until a member of the public came to her aid.

Officers from New England Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police attended a home in Armidale and arrested a 13-year-old boy today (Friday 7 September 2018).

He was taken to Armidale Police Station and charged with two counts of indecent assault.

It will be alleged in court the boy indecently assaulted a 41-year-old woman on the Armidale creek land bike track on Saturday 18 August 2018.

The boy is due to appear at a children’s court today (Friday 7 September 2018).
