Teen Charged with 15 Offenses After Cessnock Seizure

A teenager will face court over domestic violence and firearms related offences in the state's Hunter region.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 16 September 2025), police were called to a home in Cessnock, following reports of a teenage boy being threatened by another teenager at a unit complex.

Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District were told a 14-year-old boy was at home when another boy – armed with an alleged firearm – knocked on door and threatened him.

Inquiries established they were known to each other and the boy outside the door left the scene before police arrived.

There were no injuries reported due to the incident.

Following inquiries, about 6.40pm on the same day, police arrested a 17-year-old boy at a home in Aberdare.

He was taken to Cessnock Police Station where he was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence (two counts), two counts of stalk/intimidate intent fear physical etc harm (three counts), possess unregistered firearm – pistol, possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm (two counts), acquire firearm part without authority to do so, possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, firearm dealer possess firearm without sighting licence/permit, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit, authority possess more than three unregistered firearms without licence/permit, and possess prohibited drug.

Police will allege in court the 17-year-old boy threatened the 14-year-old boy on Mount View Road, Cessnock, about 12.30pm on Monday 15 September 2025, before police were called on Tuesday 16 September 2025.

He was refused bail to appear at children's court today (Wednesday 17 September 2025).

About 10pm on the same day, officers executed a search warrant at the Aberdare home and allegedly located and seized eight firearms, ammunition and small amount of cannabis leaf.
