Teen seriously injured in crash at Wagga Wagga

A teen has been seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision in the state's Riverina yesterday.

Just after 10am (Sunday 3 April 2022), emergency services were called to Moorong Street West, Wagga Wagga, after a ute and heavy vehicle collided.

The driver of the ute – a 19-year-old man – was trapped in the vehicle and suffered serious head injuries. He was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital before being airlifted to Canberra, where he underwent surgery and remains in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the heavy vehicle – a man aged 28 – sustained minor injuries and was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
