A teenager will face court over an alleged glassing and assault in Penrith earlier this year.
In March 2026, officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command have established Strike Force Vegson and commenced an investigation into an alleged assault in Penrith.
Police were told about 3.15am on Sunday 22 March 2026, a number of individuals carrying a machete approached a man before he was hit twice by a broken bottle and punched in the face.
As a result of an ongoing investigation, a 19-year-old man has since been charged. He remains before the court.
Following further inquiries, about 12.45am today (Tuesday 23 June 2026), strike force detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy in Werrington County area.
He was taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, use knife in public place-cause person to fear for safety, affray, and passenger not disclose driver's other passenger's identity.
He was refused bail to appear at Children's Court tomorrow (Wednesday 24 June 2026).
Inquiries under Strike Force Vegson continue.
