Ararat Rural City Council will be providing rubbish skips for general waste collection at the Moyston and Elmhurst Transfer Stations from 7 to 28 November 2026.
Throughout this period, residents may access skips for general waste disposal at both transfer stations during scheduled operating hours. Please note that waste collected during these temporary times is sent directly to landfill, where standard acceptance limits will apply.
The general waste skips can accept general household rubbish that cannot be donated, reused, or recycled such as non-electronic furniture items and utensils that are broken and cannot be repaired, broken garden pots, tableware and old clothing that cannot be repaired or repurposed.
Recyclables, green waste, timber, scrap metal, gas bottles, concrete, household chemicals, batteries, farm chemical containers, electronic waste, tyres or waste oil cannot be accepted.
Opening hours:
- Elmhurst: Sat 7th and Saturday 14th of November, from 10am - 1pm
- Moyston: Sat 21st and Saturday 28th of November, from 10am - 1pm
"We're pleased to offer general waste skips again this year for Moyston and Elmhurst to give residents a local disposal option. This decision reflects our ongoing effort to balance flexibility with what our residents actually need," said Ararat Rural City Council CEO, Ms Phuong Au.
"Because these skips go straight to landfill, there are a few rules on what residents can and can't take, so please check the guide before loading up the trailer."
