The Tennyson Street extension is open.
Christopher Soulsby, Manager Assets and Major Projects, said that while the road construction was completed earlier this year, there has been a delay with installation of the street lighting.
"Unfortunately we are still waiting on final approvals before lighting can be installed," said Mr Soulsby.
"We were going to wait for the lights to be installed, but we have now decided to open the road ahead of street light installation and will now install the lights next year.
"The road connection was built ahead of construction of the NSW Government's new emergency services precinct which will be built in Gilmore Crescent next year. The extension of Tennyson Street to meet Gilmore Crescent will provide access and improved response times for emergency services," he said.
The $2 million project is funded by the Australian Government, through its Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and Council, and includes parking, improved drainage and lighting.
