Territory Winning Race On Full Vaccination

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government is on track to achieve another nation-first milestone with 50% of Territorians set to be fully vaccinated this week.

Almost 220,000 doses have now been administered in the Northern Territory with 67% of Territorians who have received their first dose and 48% of Territorians now fully vaccinated.

The remote rollout is progressing with 54% of remote Territorians who have received one dose and 34% fully vaccinated.

This week NT Health teams are visiting communities including Julanimawu, Laramba and Willowra.

Territorians have been rolling up their sleeves in droves since 100,000 extra appointments were made available last month due to an increased supply of vaccines.

It has never been easier to book a jab in the Territory with the new Palmerston COVID-19 Clinic now online and able to deliver 2000 appointments per week.

Bookings are available at NT Health COVID-19 vaccine clinics, GPs, Community Pharmacies and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.

Quotes from Chief Minister Michael Gunner:

"The Territory has led the nation by recovering the fastest. We have led the nation with the best quarantine system. And we are leading the nation with the vaccine rollout.

"We have stopped COVID-19 from spreading through our community and continue to live up to our reputation as the comeback capital. The latest ABS state final demand figures show the Territory economy grew by more than twice the rate of every other jurisdiction.

"The vaccine is safe, free, effective and the best way to protect yourself, your family and your friends."

Quotes from Health Minister Natasha Fyles:

"It has been just over six months since we launched our vaccine rollout and we are already halfway towards getting every Territorian fully vaccinated.

"We know the fastest way to get life to go back to normal is to ensure as many Territorians are vaccinated as possible and I want to thank everyone for rolling up their sleeves and doing their bit.

"We will continue to focus on lifting vaccination rates in our remote communities and tighten our focus and with community leaders and health educators to achieve an even spread of vaccination.
