Colourful lion dancing, captivating cultural performances, and spectacular fireworks are all part of a two-day extravaganza to welcome Vietnamese Lunar New Year at Paloma Park, in Marangaroo, this weekend.
Held on Friday, 20 February and Saturday, 21 February, the drawcard annual event - Tet Festival 2026 - is hosted by the Vietnamese Community in Australia-WA Chapter Inc.
This free, family-friendly event will include exhibition stalls, live music, and an Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) fashion show and is proudly supported by the Cook Government with $70,500 funding through the Office of Multicultural Interests and Lotterywest.
Starting on Tuesday, February 17 and known as 'Tet' or 'Tet Nguyen Dan', Vietnamese Lunar New Year is the most important annual festival in Vietnam.
Celebrated according to the lunar calendar, each year is given an animal's name and one of five elements from the zodiac cycle, which repeats every 12 years.
This year marks the Year of the Horse which is said to be associated with characteristics such as vitality, freedom, and prosperity, with those born in this year thought to be energetic and passionate.
