A Carina man has been left stunned after discovering his Instant Scratch-Its ticket had scored a top-prize of $100,000 despite initially thinking he'd only won a smaller prize.

The Brisbane resident's winning $5 Crosswords City Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from Nextra Carindale City News, Shop 1218B, Westfield Carindale, 1151 Creek Road, Carindale.

When we confirmed the win, the shocked man confessed he was still wrapping his head around the reality of his newfound fortune.

"It's awesome!" he said.

"I've been pretty busy lately, so I've barely had time for it to sink in. It doesn't feel real.

"It was just a random ticket I got. I initially thought I had 9 words, but then they said I had 10 and I just thought 'That's weird'.

"I think I was just in shock!

"Ten thousand dollars was amazing, but $100,000 is mind-blowing."

With $100,000 heading his way, the gleeful man shared that he planned to save it and use some for his upcoming holiday.

"I'll definitely be putting some away," he said.

"And I'm going on holiday soon, so I'll be able to relax a little more and treat myself.

"Thank you so much!"

Nextra Carindale City News Assistant Manager Erin Desetine said she was thrilled to hear about the win.

"Wow! We were under the impression he'd won $10,000 but we can't believe it's $100,000!" she laughed.

"The winner is a regular, so we're absolutely stoked for him.

"It's been a while since we've sold a top prize-winning ticket, so we're over the moon.

"I've been saying to all our customers, 'Come on, someone win so we can have a new plaque on our wall!'.

"Congratulations to our winning customer. Thank you for your support and we wish you all the best with your prize."
