The Turbocharged Search for Darwin's Favourite Street Art wall: Winner Unveiled at Laneway Series

To celebrate the magnificent Darwin Street Art Festival, the search is on for Darwins favourite wall.

The Peoples Choice vote will take place tomorrow in conjunction with The Laneway Series event in Raintree Park.

The seventh Laneway Series event, Gone Troppo will transform Raintree Park with pop up bars, with Frankies Pizza Joint, Moorish and Thomas Chin offering licenced bars with beer, wine and cocktails. Food stalls will be available, along with neighbouring restaurants offering take away dishes.

Blue Soul - Darwins premier 7 piece band with front-women powerhouse, Lisa Sennett will deliver funky Jazz and Blues beats throughout the evening.

Darwin residents are encouraged to explore our Street Art walls and vote for their favourite at the voting stations located in Austin Lane and West Lane open between 10am 8pm. All walls from the 2017 and 2018 Darwin Street Art Festival are eligible for voting.

Darwin Street Art Festival Curator David Collins will run a series of Street Art walking tours between 6:30pm & 8:00pm to give an insight behind artist and inspiration behind the artwork of the Festival.

The Peoples Choice voting will conclude at 8pm with the winner announced at 9pm in Raintree Park.

One winner will be drawn and win The Ultimate Weekend at Home valued at over $1500. The prize includes two nights accommodation and a weekend of CBD experiences including food, drink and entertainment for two people from Darwin City businesses.

If the winner is present at the draw, they will also receive an artwork piece from local Darwin artist Art by Miss Polly from her current exhibition Strong.

The Territory Labor Government funds the Laneway series through Live Darwin and in collaboration with the Darwin City and Waterfront Retailer Association.

Free parking is available in West Lane Carpark from 3pm.

As stated by the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Lauren Moss

It is exciting for the Darwin CBD that through the record Turbocharging Tourism $103 million stimulus package we can deliver the Street Art Festival, the Darwin Live program, the popular Laneway series and transform the Darwin CBD into a world-class tourist and cultural destination.

This is good news for Darwin CBD businesses and creating job opportunities for Territorians.

As stated by Member for Port Darwin, Paul Kirby

It is now time to vote for your favourite Wall from the 2017 and 2018 Darwin Street Art Festivals.

On Friday night, walls will be lit up in Austin Lane and West Lane so the community can experience the Street Art at night.

I encourage everyone to take part in one of the walking tours, vote for your favourite wall and enjoy the great food and music at Gone Troppo - the final Laneway Series for 2018.

The Laneway Series was developed to help activate the CBD by bringing people into the city, and explore the great restaurants, cafes and bars that are on offer, as well as the shopping options.
