Northern Territory Police have arrested 13 people as part of an ongoing operation targeting recent violence and unrest in Wadeye.
The 10 males and three females, aged between 19 and 45, were arrested during a series of targeted actions conducted by Wadeye police and Northern Investigations members on Saturday 12 September 2026.
The arrests relate to several incidents since the start of August, allegedly involving fighting, the use of weapons, deliberately lit fires, damage to homes and vehicles, aggravated burglaries and dangerous driving throughout the community.
The 13 alleged offenders have been charged with a combined total of more than 50 offences, including:
- Recklessly endangering life
- Dangerous driving
- Taking part in a riot
- Aggravated burglary
- Theft
- Property damage
- Engaging in violent conduct
- Going armed in public
- Possessing a controlled weapon
- Arson
- Aggravated assault
- Breaching a domestic violence order
- Being armed with an offensive weapon
Of those charged, all were remanded in custody.
Police have increased their presence in Wadeye and continue to work with the community to prevent further violence, support affected residents and identify additional alleged offenders.
Superintendent Virginia Read said the community was fed up with the continued violence and police would continue targeting those responsible.
"People have the right to feel safe in their community. Police will continue working alongside the community, arresting those responsible and supporting community-led solutions focused on improving community safety.
"A small group of individuals continues to inflict fear and disruption across the community, placing innocent residents, families and responding police officers at risk.
"Those who choose to engage in violence, damage property or endanger others should expect police at their door. We will continue identifying, locating and arresting those responsible."
Police have identified further persons of interest and additional arrests are expected.
