This Girl Can - Victoria 2020

The City of Greater Geelong has jumped on the This Girl Can – Victoria campaign to celebrate women of all backgrounds, abilities, ages and body shapes getting active and feeling the benefits of movement.

A VicHealth initiative, this campaign that focuses on women finding the activity that best suits them and makes them feel confident and comfortable, whether that be a walk around the block, a couple of laps in the pool, or a yoga class.

The City will share resources and key messages from the campaign, including hosting online events throughout November.

A series of beginner workouts will be run on Facebook from 23 to 29 November for women wanting to exercise in the comfort of their own home.

Alongside the Surf Coast Shire, Golden Plains Shire, Borough of Queenscliff, G21 – Geelong Region Alliance, Leisure Networks and Kardinia Park Trust, the City is offering a two-part series to support sport and recreation providers across the region in their efforts to increase participation in exercise by women and girls.

The series includes an online forum on Monday 30 November from 7pm to 8pm.

The City and PulseFM have come together to deliver campaign advertisements in five different languages to spread the This Girl Can – Victoria messages to women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in our community.

The Catenary lights and Carousel Pavilion will light up purple to support the campaign.

We encourage all women to get involved and active in a way that suits them and join over 400,000 Victorian women who have participated in the movement since 2018.
