Three firefighters have been injured, and police are investigating following a fire at a restaurant in Newtown last night, NSW Police say.
About 9.45pm (Saturday 24 November 2018), emergency services were called to a restaurant on King Street, Newtown, after reports of a fire.
On arrival, the fire was well alight and staff members and customers were evacuated.
The fire was extinguished; however, the building sustained significant damage.
A male employee suffered a burn to his arm and a woman was treated for smoke inhalation before they were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Three NSW Fire & Rescue officers were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Two of those officers were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for further treatment.
The road was closed for a number of hours while investigators examined the scene.
Officers from Inner West Police Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
At this stage, the blaze is not being treated as suspicious.
