World-leading turtle-education and conservation centre, Mon Repos, will open its doors once again this summer and invite visitors to dive into a turtle-y amazing experience.
With reduced ticket numbers due to COVID-19 and the centre's enormous popularity people will need to book quickly to ensure they don't miss out on this opportunity.
Mon Repos Turtle Encounter is the only ranger-guided turtle encounter available on the east coast and is instrumental in the research into turtle conservation.
Last season Mon Repos was re-developed and visitors flocked to the $22 million centre for a fully immersive turtle experience.
This year is expected to be as popular as ever as hundreds of loggerhead sea turtles return to Mon Repos to lay eggs.
Mon Repos supports the largest population of nesting marine loggerhead turtles in the South Pacific and is critical to the survival of this endangered turtle.
The experience is popular with families as an educational opportunity for everyone to learn about the importance of conservation efforts and how we can all contribute to efforts to save the species.
Ranger in Charge of the Mon Repos Turtle Centre Cathy Gatley said the centre was a stand-out example of nature based tourism in Queensland
"Turtle breeding season is a wonderful opportunity to see these amazing animals in their natural environment. There aren't many times that a family can learn and experience something as special as this," she said.
"Half of the season's tickets have already sold in just one day, so people really need to be quick," she said.
In addition to booking tickets for night tours, this year, due to COVID, tickets for day visits will also be required.
