Christmas has come early this year for some Auckland victims who have had their property stolen recently.
It was a rewarding shift for the Avondale Tactical Crime Unit on Wednesday, Detective Senior Sergeant Ash Matthews says.
It began with an arrest over power tools being stolen from tradies' vehicles.
"Our team deployed to the Epsom area, where a man was taken into custody and valuable power tools were recovered," Detective Senior Sergeant Matthews says.
"The 41-year-old man has since been charged with two counts of receiving stolen property."
The power tools have now been returned to their rightful owner.
But the team weren't finished there.
"While heading back to the station, a report came in about a stolen late model ute travelling on the South-Western motorway," Detective Senior Sergeant Matthews says.
"Two members of the squad were nearby and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle."
The 34-year-old woman driving the vehicle was arrested on the roadside near Mt Roskill.
"Police have charged this woman with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.
"The vehicle had only recently been reported stolen and was being sought in connection with recent allegedly burglaries in the Glen Innes area."
Detective Senior Sergeant Matthews says two burglary charges have also been laid against the woman.
Both offenders are expected in the Auckland District Court today to appear on their matters.
"This is a pleasing result for Police in that we have been able to recover valuable items for the victims," Detective Senior Sergeant Matthews says.
"At the same time, we have held two people to account and they will both face the Court."
