Police have uncovered a tomahawk axe in a man's backpack within the Adelaide CBD Declared Public Precinct overnight.
At about 10pm on Friday, 22 May, patrols stopped a man outside a Hindley Street fast food outlet and conducted a metal detector search.
It will be alleged that officers located a tomahawk axe, hammer, cannabis and a pipe in the man's backpack.
A 50-year-old man from Blair Athol was arrested and charged with carrying an offensive weapon. He was also issued with a $590 expiation notice for possessing cannabis and drug paraphernalia.
The man was granted bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 15 July.
