Top Lawyer Josh Bornstein Joins Australia Institute

Australia Institute

Josh will work alongside The Australia Institute's existing research team, developing bold new proposals to rebalance power in Australia's economy.

Bringing deep expertise on employment law, industrial relations, discrimination and corporate governance to this role, his research will focus on issues ranging from monopoly behavior and price gouging to regulatory failure and the erosion of democratic accountability.

"I look forward to expanding on The Australia Institute's already impressive, historic work scrutinising the concentration of corporate power in Australia," he said.

"It is essential that we address the harm caused by unchecked corporate power in this country, including to consumers, government, workers, the environment and to democracy."

For decades, Josh Bornstein has been at the forefront of landmark legal battles defending workers' rights, protecting whistleblowers, and challenging the abuse of corporate power. His recent book Working for the Brand highlights the authoritarian censorship by our major corporations.

"This appointment represents a natural next step in The Australia Institute's long and proud history of using research to stand up to powerful interests," said co-CEO of the Australia Institute, Leanne Minshull.

"Throughout his distinguished legal career, Josh has used the law to tackle systemic wrongdoing and defend the rights of individuals and communities against corporate misconduct. He has a proven track record of not only winning big cases but achieving policy and legal reform at the same time."
