Sydney, Australia, 9 February, 2026 – This International Pizza Day (09.02.26), new data from nutrition and food tracking app, MyFitnessPal, has revealed the country's favourite pizzas.
According to data logged by active users in Australia between December 1, 2024 to December 1, 2025, the most popular type of pizzas, in order, are:
Pepperoni pizza
Cheese pizza
Chicken pizza
Bbq Chicken pizza
Meatlovers pizza
Hawaiian pizza
Bacon pizza
Supreme/Deluxe pizza
Ham/Cured Meat pizza
Salami/Sausage pizza
Pepperoni and cheese pizzas dominate the preferences amongst Aussies, suggesting a strong lean toward classic, familiar flavours over more complex options. Overall, Friday is the most popular day for pizza logs, followed by Saturday and Sunday. Pizza logs peak around 5-6pm, especially on Fridays.
Nutritionist and MyFitnessPal ambassador, Michaela Sparrow, said, "The data shows that pizza remains a popular end of week convenience food for Aussies, with meat based pizzas making the vast majority of the top 10 pizza favourites."
"The strong spike in logs on Fridays and early evenings highlights how pizza is closely tied to routine and reward-based eating habits, especially at the end of a long working week. This pattern suggests Aussies are prioritising convenience and comfort after long days, rather than making spontaneous food choices. Understanding these habits can help consumers plan ahead with more balanced meals earlier in the day."
"While classic options like pepperoni and cheese dominate the most popular pizzas, Aussies looking to make more balanced choices can pair pizza with vegetables, opting for leaner proteins, or moderating portion sizes.
"There's also so many other ways to enjoy pizzas without guilt - for example, using whole-wheat or cauliflower crust and going light on the cheese can help cut refined carbs and saturated fat. Another way is to load up your favourite pizza with grilled chicken or mushrooms to boost fiber and nutrients. Enjoyed mindfully and as part of an overall balanced diet, pizza can still have a place in Australians' eating habits."
"Tracking your nutrition and food, through apps and tools like MyFitnessPal, are a great way to take the guesswork out of food choices and plan for the right nutrition goals that work for you," added Michaela.
