Townsville residents can now book a spot at one of eight community centres run by Townsville City Council across the city for when they reopen on 12 June.
The decision to reopen community centres comes after the Queensland Government announced the state would move on to stage two restrictions.
Townsville City Council Mayor Jenny Hill said the community centres would be open by booking only.
"Last week we reopened our libraries, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and skateparks, and now we're preparing to open our community centres." Cr Hill said.
"It's great to take this step forward, but it's also incredibly important that the community continues to practice physical distancing and good hygiene to continue to slow the spread of COVID-19."
Council's Customer Service Centre at 103 Walker St has also re-opened to the public.
"Our team at the Customer Service Centre is now back at the counter to help with face-to-face payments and general enquiries," Cr Hill said.
"We have installed screens and there are clear markers at the Customer Service Centre to show visitors where to stand in queue to adhere to physical distancing rules.
"Our community has done a fantastic job of slowing the spread of COVID-19 in Townsville, but now is not the time to become complacent. Continue physically distancing and practicing enhanced hygiene."
All bookings at Council's community centres must comply with stage two guidelines.
