Townsville Eats postponed due to wet weather

Tonight's first ever Townsville Eats has been postponed until next month.

The wet weather has forced the postponement of the Townsville Eats event.

Local Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney encouraged locals to still come into the CBD tonight and have a bite to eat and drink at some of the city's best restaurants and bars.

"Unfortunately, the wet weather forced us to not go ahead with tonight's scheduled event as there was planned to be a lighting installation and a number of food trucks that can have issues with heavy rain," Cr Greaney said.

"We want the launch event to be what our city deserves and having the event without the pop up cinema, extensive feature lighting, community stage to showcase local talent and kids zone just wasn't an option.

"Council is totally committed to delivering Townsville Eats as a regular event for our CBD.

"I'd encourage everyone to try and make it down to the CBD and support our local traders by having a meal or a few drinks with friends."

The first Townsville Eats will now be held on Friday, 26 April.
