Toyota Australia recalls 298 Yaris vehicles due to hybrid vehicle ecu

Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a safety recall involving Toyota Yaris vehicles produced between 21st May 2020 - 24th October 2020 (inclusive). There are 298 vehicles involved in the Australian market.

In the hybrid system of involved vehicles, due to an improper programming, there is a possibility that the vehicle will not enter a failsafe driving mode if a temporary slip occurs in the input damper of the hybrid transaxle during sudden acceleration and warning lights are illuminated. If this were to occur, the hybrid system will shut down.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will reprogram the hybrid vehicle control computer software.

It will require approximately 0.8 hours to reprogram the hybrid vehicle control computer. However, depending on the Dealer's work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.
