Toyota Australia is encouraging aspiring engineers, designers and creative thinkers to let their imaginations run wild these school holidays and create an image of their fantasy car to enter the 2020 Dream Car Art Contest.

The annual global contest, now in its 14th year, calls on aspiring artists to unleash their creativity and paint or draw their vision of a car for the future.

Children can enter in one of three age categories - under 8 years, 8-11 years, and 12-15 years - with one talented overall winner taking home a $2,500 Officeworks voucher for their school and another $2,500 voucher of their choice.

This year's Australian winner, 10-year-old Jerricho Wong from Kenmore State School in Queensland, took home the first prize with his "Germ Buster" that is designed to help the world avoid nasty germs.

"I wanted a car that goes around and sucks up all the bad germs and turns them into healthy germs so that everyone has a healthy life," Jerricho said.

"I liked the dream car contest and think it's a good competition to enter because it can expose your creativity," he said.

Kenmore State School Arts/STEM Teacher, Laurene Huddlestone-Holmes, said the Dream Car Art Contest is a great way for kids to explore their imaginations and address the social and environmental issues that concern them and the school holidays is the perfect opportunity to spend time on their ultimate creations.

"The contest encourages aspiring artists to showcase their work on an international stage, and gives students from around the world a platform to be creative in the visual arts," Ms Huddletone-Holmes said.

"Our students enjoy discussing car features and developing sensational new ones, and they think that it's great fun to use visual arts mediums to create clever cars for the future,"she said.

To enter the contest, all artworks need to be original hand-drawn or painted works and the top eight Australian entries will win a $275 VISA Gift Card.

Entries are now open for the Australian round of the global contest with submissions closing 1 March, 2020.
