Collision between a passenger train and two rail handling trolleys at Queens Park, London, 9 May 2026.
At around 05:35 on 9 May 2026, a passenger train, travelling at 77 mph (123 km/h), struck two rail handling trolleys that had been left on the track after overnight engineering works.
No injuries were caused to passengers and staff in the collision. The trolleys involved were damaged beyond economic repair. The train did not derail but was damaged and unable to continue in service.
We have undertaken a preliminary examination into the circumstances surrounding this incident. Having assessed the evidence which has been gathered to date, we have decided to publish a safety digest .
