Transit police investigate Melton hit run

Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit-run collision at Melton last night involving a moped scooter., Victoria Police say

The incident happened in the car park of the Melton Railway Station on Sunday 12 August at 11.30pm. Investigators have been told that the victim, a 52-year-old Melton man was walking to his car in the car-park when a white moped scooter, with a rider and pillion passenger on board, travelled along the footpath and struck the victim.

The victim was knocked to the ground sustaining serious injuries. The rider and his passenger were thrown off the bike but did not appear to be injured. The rider got up and looked at the victim before getting back on the bike, with his passenger, and riding off along Brooklyn Road towards Coburns Road.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the scooter in the area at the time of the collision or anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
