Trio Charged, $1.8M Illicit Cigarettes Seized

Three men will face court today charged after illegal tobacco worth more than $1.8m was seized in Sydney's Eastern Beaches.

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended a storage facility on Denison Street, Hillsdale, about 8am yesterday (Wednesday 20 May 2026).

Upon arrival, police established a perimeter and identified three vehicles entering the premises.

Police entered a short time later and arrested three men, aged 36, 37, and 44.

During a subsequent search of the vehicles, officers located and seized 1,464,000 cigarettes with an estimated potential street value of $1.83m.

All three were taken to Maroubra Police Station where they each charged with possess tobacco (commercial quantity).

They were refused bail to appear at Bail Division - Court 6 today (Thursday 21 May 2026).
