BleedBlue4Jordan Blood Drive Saves Nearly 1,000 Lives

A blood drive launched by Wide Bay District police to support one of their own injured in the line of duty has helped saved close to 1000 lives.

BleedBlue4Jordan was in support of First Year Constable Jordan May, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg while attending a domestic violence matter in Yengarie in July.

The blood drive ran from 22 September to 31 October with 333 blood and plasma donations made in that time, which is the equivalent of 999 lives saved.

First Year Constable May says these results are far more than he ever expected, and he is extremely grateful for the support.

Wide Bay District Officer Superintendent Anne Vogler says Jordan is continuing to make progress in his recovery, which would not have been possible without the generosity of donors.

"The results of the BleedBlue4Jordan blood drive will make a tangible difference to members of our community in similar situations," she said.

"I'm extremely proud of how officers across the district stepped up in droves to donate blood and plasma in support of Jordan. Helping people is at the core of what we do, and donating is a small act that can save someone's life."

"Some officers signed up to donate for the first time as part of this drive and are now committed to continuing to give blood and save even more lives".
