Trio charged after Balaclava home invasion

Detectives from Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit have arrested and charged three men following an aggravated home invasion in Balaclava earlier this month.

A residence on Gourlay Street was allegedly broken into about 7.30am on Saturday, 10 July.

It's alleged two male occupants were threatened with a firearm before three offenders stole prescription drugs, cash and credit cards.

Tireless work by detectives led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Glen Waverley man in Clayton last Friday, 16 July.

A 29-year-old man was then arrested at an address in Oakleigh later that day.

After further investigation, a 21-year-old Beaconsfield man was arrested at his address on Tuesday.

With assistance from Search and Rescue officers, detectives then seized firearm components from a lake in Doveton yesterday.

Police will allege the firearm was used during the aggravated home invasion.

The trio have been since charged with aggravated burglary and were remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 30 August.
