Trio Charged With Drug Offences At Young

Three people have been charged with drug offences in the state's south.

About 7.30am today (Tuesday 29 April 2025), officers were patrolling Nasmyth Street, Young when they pulled over a vehicle, after they allegedly detected an unlicensed driver.

Officers subjected the 39-year-old female driver to a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive reading for methylamphetamine. A secondary sample was sent away out for testing.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly seized drugs and a mobile phone for forensic examination.

The 39-year-old woman was taken to Young Police Station where she was charged with seven counts of supply prohibited drug <=small quantity, supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis, possess prohibited drug and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

She appeared in Young Local Court today (Tuesday 28 April 2025), where she was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Tuesday 6 May 2025.

Following inquiries, about 7.40am the same day, officers executed a search warrant at a home nearby in Lynch Street, Young.

Police seized a small amount of drugs from the home and ammunition.

A 40-year-old man was issued with a court attendance notice for possess prohibited drug. A 20-year-old man was issued with a court attendance notice for possess prohibited drug and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit. They will both appear in Young Local Court on Monday 2 June 2025.
