The NTU Convocation will be held from 21 Jul to 1 Aug, where over 14,000 students from the Class of 2026, the largest batch in NTU's history, will graduate in 29 ceremonies.
NTU Pro-Chancellor Ms Jennie Chua presided over the first ceremony today, which was also attended by NTU Board of Trustees chairperson Ms Goh Swee Chen.
This year, the new President's Prize for Community Service will be awarded to two students whose sustained contributions have created a lasting impact. The award honours individuals who have applied their initiative in service to others, contributing to communities beyond NTU.
The winners of the President's Prize for Community Service are Miss Loh Pei Yi from the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and Miss Rachel Goh Rae Ean from the College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences.
NTU Convocation 2026 also recognises Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal recipients, awarded to students who have demonstrated academic excellence, and the Koh Boon Hwee Scholars Awards, which enable outstanding students to honour both an NTU faculty member and a teacher from their former schools or institutions.
In his Convocation address to the Class of 2026, NTU President Professor Ho Teck Hua reminded graduates that in today's artificial intelligence-driven economy, empathy and human connections are more critical than ever. Empathy helps us make decisions that people can trust, lead teams, and serve communities, he said.
Prof Ho said: "Graduates, you are entering a world where it is essential to put people at the centre of what we do. The world needs more people who are wise and have a heart. This is the kind of graduate NTU has prepared you to be. So, stay adaptable. And above all, practice empathy: seek to understand, listen with care, and respond with generosity."

Total of 14,018 graduates
• 6,042 Bachelor's degree graduates (includes 225 Bachelor's graduates receiving double degrees, and 37 graduates from the Renaissance Engineering Programme)
• 7,364 graduates receiving Master's degrees
• 575 graduates receiving Doctorate degrees
