A truck driver has been charged in relation to a multi vehicle crash last month on Mount Ousley.
About 11.40am on Friday 15 August 2025, emergency services responded to reports of a multi vehicle crash along Mount Ousley Road, Mount Ousley.
Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were informed that a truck travelling south bound had crashed into a Mercedes sedan – driven by a 20-year-old man - causing it to roll where it collided with a cement truck driven by a 32-year-old man. A Mazda sedan driven by a 19-year-old woman was also involved in the collision.
The truck – driven by a 52-year-old man - continued travelling south bound where it came to a stop on a raised gradient on University Avenue approximately 1.5km from the initial crash site.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the Mercedes driver at the scene for minor injuries.
There were no reports of any other person being injured.
The truck was seized for mechanical inspection.
Police will allege that the truck was overweight with building material and the brakes were faulty.
Today the truck driver was served with a Future Court Attendance Notice for the offences of:
- Use heavy vehicle with defective brakes
- Drive/permit heavy vehicle not comply mass requirement
- Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).
He is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 14 October 2025.
