- West Australian Football Commission to become Tuart College foundation tenant from 2019

The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) will be temporarily relocated from Subiaco Oval to Tuart College in Tuart Hill, while its new headquarters and the Inner City College are being constructed in Subiaco.
Negotiations with Football West to join the WAFC at the Tuart College site are underway. This would enable two of the State's major football codes to run their operations from the same site and share facilities.
The 2018-19 Mid-year Review includes a $2.2 million allocation to invest in Tuart College and fit-out a proportion of the College for the new tenants. A further $800,000 has been allocated by the Department of Education for property management and maintenance of the site.
WAFC's temporary move to Tuart College enables the State Government to proceed with its plans to revitalise the Subi East precinct, including grandstand demolition at Subiaco Oval.
An ongoing $33.7 million program by Landcorp to undertake demolition of the stands, prior to the opening of Inner City College for Year 7 students in 2020, will get underway next year. This program of works will allow for the heritage entry gates to be retained and the Sandover Medal walk preserved, by either relocating the walk or a reinterpretation of it.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:
"The McGowan Government has worked closely with the WAFC to secure a new temporary home for WA football.
"This arrangement gives Tuart College a new lease of life and provides a boost for this northern suburbs community."
As stated by Planning Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Subi East will create a vibrant and connected inner city community, connected to METRONET by capitalising on existing public transport infrastructure.
"The oval will remain a significant asset for the Subi East precinct. The demolition of the grandstands will make the historic and much-loved playing surface accessible to the community and the new Inner City College.
"As part of our METRONET changes, the frequency of the train services between Claremont and Bayswater will be boosted to every five minutes during peak times in the second half of 2021."
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
"The Tuart College site has retained its education focus with the foundation tenants bringing a range of development and enrichment programs.
"I look forward to working with the new and existing tenants."
