Turbocharged Live Darwin Arts – More Activities to Activate Darwin's CBD

Darwin CBD continues to welcome Live Darwin Arts activities this festive season, providing unique arts and cultural entertainment for locals and visitors to enjoy in the heart of Darwin City.

Live Darwin Arts Round 3 has been boosted by the Territory Labor Governments record $103 million Turbocharging Tourism package to attract visitors, create local jobs and put more money in the pockets of Territorians.

Grant funding of $157,532 has been allocated to activate the CBD with music performances, arts activities and exhibitions, listening parties and public conversations. Browns Mart Arts provide production support to these artists and assistance in delivering the events.

Creative Mounds by Darwin Visual Arts Association (DVAA)

Creative Mounds in the Live Darwin Hub, Smith Street Mall, will see the fluorescent fibreglass termite mounds, originally created by artist Fiona Curry-Billyard for the 2017 Darwin Festival undergo a transformation with the mounds set to be painted in a variety of styles by four local artists Eddie Janama Kitching, Norma Chidanpee Benger, Alicia Scobie and Adrienne Wade.

Singing in the CBD with the Darwin Chorale

Sing along with the Darwin Chorale choir as they perform Christmas Carols and popular songs as part of the City of Darwins annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. The Chorale will also entertain Darwin City Christmas shoppers with two weekend lunch time performances at the Christmas Tree, Smith Street Mall (Bennett Street end)

  • 11am-12.15pm, Sunday 9 December and Saturday 15 December 2018

For the Love of Darwin by Darwin Visual Arts Association (DVAA)

Public art workshops in the Live Darwin Hub, Smith Street Mall, facilitated by local artists Eddie Janama Kitching and Norma Chidanpee Benger. Sharing their collective love of Darwin, the artists will demonstrate and teach their own technique with the public encouraged to add their mark to a 2m x2m canvas.

  • 9am-12pm, Tuesday 4 and Saturday 8 December 2018.
