The Cook Labor Government is supporting the work of researchers to address the cardiovascular disease through a partnership between Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund and the Heart Foundation.
Cardiovascular disease is a major contributor to illness and mortality across Australia, highlighting the importance of continued investment in research and innovation to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Treating cardiovascular disease can lead to better heart function and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Two million dollars has been committed to strengthening cardiovascular research investment through a dedicated fellowship partnership between the FHRI Fund and the National Heart Foundation of Australia.
This forms part of the suite of FHRI Fund Research Fellowships and the first to be announced under the new FHRI Fund Strategy.
The partnership supports early and mid-career researchers, helping retain talented researchers in Western Australia while building long-term research capability in an area of significant health importance.
Fellowship applicants are expected to undertake research that advances understanding of cardiovascular disease and contributes to improved health outcomes for people living in our state.
Applications close on 13 August 2026.
