Amid rising costs, operational pressures and extreme weather events, Tweed Shire Council is supporting the local business community with the tools and connections they need to thrive.
Delivered through the Succeed in the Tweed initiative, October Business Month is a key deliverable of the Community Strategic Plan 2022–2032. It is designed to create sustainable opportunities that support long-term growth for the local business community.
Building on the NSW Government's Small Business Month, the 2025 program features 8 capacity-building workshops and 3 networking opportunities. Additional events will be hosted by local Chambers of Commerce and the Tweed Tourism Company.
Workshops will explore a range of topical issues, including profitability, inclusive recruitment, artificial intelligence, agritourism, data analysis to support business decisions, and agribusiness. A dedicated session with Tweed Byron Police will also cover business safety and reporting.
This year introduces 2 exciting new networking events: 'Young People in Business' and 'Celebrating Women in Business', both designed to showcase emerging talent and celebrate local achievements. The calendar will conclude on Thursday 30 October with the return of the signature event, 'Tweed Shire Networking' at the Ivory Tavern in Tweed Heads, connecting businesses from across the Tweed.
Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry said Council remains firmly committed to supporting the region's business community.
"October Business Month is a valuable opportunity to showcase the resilience, creativity and determination of local businesses," Cr Cherry said.
"Through the Succeed in Tweed initiative, this year's program has been carefully designed to connect people, grow skills and inspire collaboration — strengthening the Tweed's economy today while laying the foundations for sustainable growth into the future."
Businesses across the region are encouraged to take this opportunity to build capacity, strengthen networks, and celebrate local success.
