Two Charged by Detectives in Kellyville Shooting

Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged two men following a shooting in Sydney's north west last year.

About 3.10am on Tuesday 8 July 2025, police were called to Janamba Avenue in Kellyville after reports shots were fired at a house.

Officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene where bullet holes were located to the front windows of the home.

Police were told three men – two armed with pistols, and the other with a sledgehammer – attempted to gain entry to the home and fired at a man in his 30s.

The man, a woman also in her 30s, and a two-year-old child were home at the time; however, there were no reports of injuries.

A short time later, emergency services were called to Gormon Avenue in Kellyville, following reports of a car fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the fire; however, the vehicle was destroyed.

A crime scene was established by local police, before the matter was referred to State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad under Strike Force Nicholson.

Following extensive inquiries, about 6.45am yesterday (Wednesday 28 January 2026), strike force detectives – with assistance from the Public Order & Riot Squad and South West Metropolitan Operational Support Group – executed three search warrants in Homebush West, Yagoona and Drummoyne.

In Homebush West, police arrested a 26-year-old man. At the address in Yagoona, police arrested a 28-year-old man.

During the warrants, police seized a glock-style gel blaster firearm, a replica antique firearm, two expandable batons, two GPS trackers, ammunition, SIM cards, mobile phones, an amount of prohibited drugs and paraphernalia consisted with dealing drugs.

The men were taken to Bankstown Police Station, where the younger man was charged with discharge firearm etc intend cause grievous bodily harm, destroy etc property in company use fire etc >$5000, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, two counts of supply prohibited drug >indictable &

The older man was charged with accessory before the fact of discharge firearm etc intend cause grievous bodily harm, possess unregistered firearm-pistol, and possess unauthorised pistol.

Both were refused bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court today (Thursday 29 January 2026).
